Spencer Special to tha Free Press ST. JOHNSBURY, Oct. 19. Al bert R. Spencer, for 35 years a faithful city carrier in the postal service, died at the Veterans hos pital at White River Junction Sat urday morning.

He was 65. He was born in Concord and in 1895 began working in the Fairbanks scale factory. Some years later he was employed as clerk in a dry goods store for a time. On April 1, 1903, he entered the postoffice as carrier, retiring on disability Feb. 28, 1938.

During the Spanish-American war he served as artificer in Company from St. Johnsbury in the First Vermont Volunteer Infantry which was sta tioned at (Jnickamauga. He was a member oz Caledonia lodge oi Odd Fellows and Passumpsic lodge of Masons. Since his retireemnt from the government service he has been in poor health and had been at the hospital sev eral times before his last visit. Surviving him are his wife, who was Miss Mabelle Gray of St.

Johnsbury, two daughters, Miss Catherine G. Spencer of- St. Johnsbury and Mrs. Rolfe W. Schoppe of Orleans, and two sisters, Miss Mabel L.

Williams (Special to the Free Press) RANDOLPH, Oct 20. Mrs. Julia Ann Williams, 87, long time Brain-tree and Randolph resident and widow of the late Jehiel Williams died last evening at her Weston st. home. She suffered a paralytic stroke last Friday morning.

Persons of Calais, who died suddenly of a heart attack Thursday evening, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 at the East. Calais church. The church was filled with friends who had come to pay their last respects, and the floral tributes were numerous and beautiful. Dr. Arthur Hewitt of Berlin officiated, and burial was in the East Calais cemetery.
