Barbara hfced extensively, backpacking and camping in the Adirondack. White Mountains. Washing "ft? i I i numville Schools of Manchester. She was also employed for several years by the Orvis Company of Manchester. She was first mamed to Hildreth B.

Livingston and later mamed William J. Johnson. Together they operated the Johnson's Taxi Service Manchester for several years. "Kit" was a member of the Zion Episcopal Church of Manchester and was very active with the Altar Society, the Church Chor and also taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Adoniram Order of Eastern Star of Manchester for over 50 years and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Manchester.

She is survived by three daughters. Mrs. Marshall (Mary) Peters of Fair Haven. Mrs. Michael (Joyce) Dattilio of South Burlington.

Mrs. Carroll (Sally) Nelson of Barre; also by two sisters. Mrs. Anne Harwood of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, and Mrs. Mary Brown of Albany, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren.

17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step father, Mr. Robert Purdy in 1976. by her husband. William J.

Johnson in 1980 and by two sisters, Sarah Stannard and Jennie Griffith, and a brother, Mr. John Stone. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 1 a.m. in the Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester. Celebrant will be the Rev.

Paul Parker and concelebrant will be the Rev. Sven Warner. Vicar of St. Mark's-St. Luke's Episcopal Church of Castleton with Fair Haven.

Burial will follow in the Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. A reception is to follow in the Zion Church Parish House immediately following the committal service. There will be no visiting hours scheduled. Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Johnson may be offered to Sager's Nursing Home Activity Fund through the office of the Roberts-Au-bin Funeral Home.

MAZZA COLCHESTER Mary T. Mazza, 85, a longtime resident of Colchester, died Wednesday. Dec. 4, 1996 in the Vermont Respite House, Williston. She was born in Bare, Italy, Aug.

26, 1911, the daughter of John and Theresa (Leogrande) Perrino. She was a member of Holy Cross Church in Colchester. Mary is survived by five sons, Frank, of Brandon, Joseph, of Milton, John, of Milton, Robert, of Milton and Richard of Colchester; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; one sister, Angelina Houle of South Carolina; four brothers, Frank Perrino of Winooski, Louis Porina of Florida, John Trono of Winooski and Michael Trono of Winooski; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Peter Perrino. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

FALIERO "VIC" GUIDULI BARRE Fahero "Vic" Guiduli, aged 93. of 51 Patterson Barre. died Wednesday. Dec. 4.

1996 in the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Barre. April 30. 1903. son of Cesare and Marietta (Pacetti) Guiduli.

He went to Italy with his family as a child and attended school there. He returned to Barre in 1917. From 1926 to 1930 he was in the U.S. Army Air Corps. From 1932 to 1945 he owned and operated the former Venetian Restaurant in Barre.

From 1945 to 1949 he operated a Texaco service station on North Main Street in Barre. On Feb. 28, 1931 he married Lena Danzero in Barre. In 1949 he and his wife opened the Country House Restaurant in Barre and continued its operation until they sold the restaurant in 1969. His wife died Feb.

23. 1983. He is survived by two sons. Dr. Robert C.

Guiduli and his wife, Barbara, of Burlington and Ralph Guiduli and his wife, Carolyn, of South Burlington; a daughter, Gloria Wenzel and her husband, Ronald, of Norfolk, seven grandchildren, Barry Guiduli, Pamela Guiduli, Vicki Dou-dera, William Wenzel, Kristin Guiduli, Karin Guiduli, and Kelli Guiduli; and three great grandsons, Matthew, Nathan and Alexander Doudera; also surviving is a sister, Olga Savoia and her husband Reno Ludlow, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Mario Guiduli and Dr. Emilio Giana-relli. He had been affiliated with the First Presbyterian Church of Barre, and had belonged to the Mutuo the Barre Elk's Lodge 1535, the Barre Kiwanis Club, and was a member of its Legion of Honor. He was a life member of Granite Masonic Lodge 35, Granite Chapter 26 RAM, Barre Council 22 R.

S.M., the St. Aldemar Commandery 1 1 K.T., and the Mount Sinai Shrine Temple 3 and had been a member of the Uniformed Shrine Patrol. In 1986 he was recognized as one of the outstanding citizens of Barre at the annual Service Club Recognition Banquet. A service of remembrance will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Barre.

Burial will follow in the Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 8:15 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Program of the Central Vermont Medical Center. 74. of Hood Street, died Wednesday. Dec. 4. 1996 in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

She was born June 7. 1922 in Burlington, the daughter of Ira and Anna (Pratt) Pike. Mrs. Mongeon was a devoted homemaker. She is survived by her husband.

Ormond Mongeon, of Winooski; her sons and daughters, John Borth-wick. of Burlington, Sharon Barnier of Winooski. Penilee Lam of Massachusetts. Timson Borthwick of Rutland and Mary Lynn Collins of Delaware; a granddaughter, Jamie Barnier; a grandson. Robert Borthwick; 16 additional grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a half sister, Marjone Pope; a brother, Carlton Pike; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Mongeon was predeceased by a son, Edson Borthwick, on April 5. 1996. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 1 a.m. in LaVigne Funeral Home in Winooski, with interment following in Lake View Cemetery in Burlington.

in LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main Winooski. BARBARA PARK RACUSEN SHELBURNE Barbara Park Ra-cusen died Dec. 2. 1996 in the Vermont Respite House. She was born July 10, 1919 in Katonah, N.Y., a village founded by her Quaker ancestors in 1680, to Madeline (Fish) and H.

Halsted Park. Madeline, a well-known animal sculptor, instilled a love of animals both wild and domestic. Zoos and circuses were familiar territory, filled with adventures and interesting people. Barbara mamed future architect Carl Bausch in 1941. They divorced in 1962.

She was educated at Katonah Schools, Stuart Hall and the Art Student League in New York City, studied sculpture with Ivan Mestrovic at Syracuse University and worked at the Frank Mann Pottery in Shelburne. Her sculpture included both figures and animals musicians, dancers, horses, dogs and a catamount, among others. She has had two solo exhibits at the Fleming Museum and her sculpture is in the National Academy of Design, the Southern Vermont Art Center and the Fleming Museum as well as in private collections. Barbara wrote poetry for many years and was a contributor at the Breadloaf Conference under John Ciardi. In 1969 she married David Racu-sen, and shared his interest in music.

She studied flute with Edward Powell and cello with Flora Kinsey. She was an early member and President of the Burlington Friends of Music for Youth and served on the board of the Vermont Mozart Festival, the New York Chamber Soloists, Musica Propria, and the Lane Series. Barbara was a founding member of the Vermont Council on the Arts and on the Board for two terms. She sculpted the Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts Medallion. She was a sculpture teacher and trustee of the Shelburne Craft School and served on the Shelburne Conservation and Historic Site Commissions.

Travels took Barbara to Europe, Greece and Turkey as well as Bermuda and Turks and Caicos Islands. She studied Orca Whales in Alaska and sailed as crew on a barkentine to study Humpback Whales. She visited the Lippizaners in Vienna and animals around the world, but will be best remembered in Shelburne for Kruger of Panton. a ruece and several cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial tl be celebrated Saturday at 12 noon Our Lady of the Hoi Rosary Church Richmond.

Lines died yesterday. Dec. 4. 1996 after a life long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was 60 years old.

She is survived by four children, Jon Lines of Burlington. Gary and Nancy Lines of South Burlington. Maria Lines and Owen Byrd of Palo Alto. and David Lines of Burlington. She has three grandchildren.

Nicholas and Alyssa Lines, and Meghan Lines-Byrd. She is also survived by a brother, William Milo of Johnson; two sisters, Mrs. Natalino (Rosemary) Galfetti of Barre and Mrs. Richard (Lorraine) Martin of Simi, Calif. She was born in Montpelier, the daughter of William and Mary (Louise Menard) Milo, who are deceased.

She also had a sister that predeceased her. Mrs. Carl (Eleanor) Whitney and step-mother. Gertrude Milo. She graduated from Jeanne Mance Nursing in June 1958.

She married Stratton H. Lines in February of 1961. They were divorced in February 1986. In the last several years of her life, the disease had ravaged her mental and physical state. But she never lost her smile.

It was the light that kept her alive and the energy of which was all that was left. For those who encountered her, it was this enduring smile that gave her the quiet dignity come deep from her soul. As her highschool classmates had so aptly noticed in her 1954 yearbook from Saint Michael's High in Montpelier, she had intelligence, personality and vivacious-ness, all in one. She was a wonderful woman with a fine sense of humor. Her smile, always lighted, was the last life she had.

That quality, and our mother, will be deeply missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church on Flynn Avenue in Burlington. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

BURTON G. ALDRICH NEWPORT Burton G. Aldrich, 65, of Newport, formerly of the Burlington area, died Monday, Dec. 2, 1996 in the Newport Health Care Center, Newport, Vt. He was born in Woodsville, N.H., Aug.

31, 1931, the son of the late Erville and Hariette Aldrich. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served for the U.S. Army. Burton is survived by a daughter, Virginia; a son, Eric; three brothers, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m.

CAIN, JR. Samuel M. Cain, 92, went on to be with his Lord, early Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1996. He was born In Barclay, Md.

on April 8, 1904, to Samuel M. Cain, Sr. and Mary Jane (Jeffords) Cain. He was a chef on the Pennsylvania Railroad for 42 years. He leaves behind his wife, Aver (Green) Cain; his sons, Bruce and Carl Cain and his daughter, the Rev.

Patricia C. Davis. Pastor of Hilltop Light Assembly of God Church, Bur 1 yL ton and British Columbia. Rock climbing around Banff was another challenge. She was an excellent swimmer and Red Cross Life Saving Instructor.

She learned to pilot a plane and had the fun of flying a WWI Jenny Biplane. She was a passionate believer in human nghts. environmental protection and the elimination of war. She is survived by her cherished husband. David; two step children.

Ann Racusen Takagi and her husband, Toru. and Richard and Lorraine Racusen who each have two children; her sister, Sylvia Park Frey of Bradenton. brother. H. Halsted Park of Naples.

Fla. and five nephews. Her daughter Ertka died in childbirth. Barbara would wish to be remembered by your donation to a local humanitarian or cultural charity. There will be a memorial service at a later date.

4. 1996. He was born in Burlington on April 10. 1914. the son of Thomas and Mary (Dufresne) Bessette.

He was employed by the Burlington School Department, retiring in 1979. Pete enjoyed playing horseshoes and having barbecues with his family and friends very much. He also hived ice fishing with his buddy. Clayton, and going to breakfast with Paul. He is survived by his daughters.

i -k Mi c. I MARGARET M. GIFF0RD RICHMOND Margaret M. Gif-ford. 89, died Wednesday, Dec.

4. 1996. in Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester following a long illness. She was born April 1, 1907 in New York City, the daughter of William L. and Frances (Browne) Clifford.

She married Rolland W. Gifford on Nov. 16, 1926 in Ridgefield. Conn. They moved to South Hero with their family in 1946 where they purchased and operated Lakeside Tourist Camp.

Margaret continued to operated the Camp for several years after her husband died in 197 1 She later moved to Richmond where she was active in the Beacon Light Grange. She had been active in the Grange all her life and held the Seventh Degree in the National Grange. She was also a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and the Hale and Hearty Senior's Group in Richmond. She was a former member of the St. Rose of Lima Church and the Senior Citizen's Group in South Hero.

She is survived by three sons, Rolland Gifford, and his wife, Lois, of Shelburne Falls, William L. Gifford of Annandale, Va. and B. George Gifford and his wife. Beverly, of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Paul Gifford and his wife.

and David Gifford of Jersey City, N.J.; one great granddaughter, Rachel F. MARION SHANKS MODICA Marion (Shanks) Modica of Burlington, died Wednesday Dec. 4, 1996 with her family at her home. She was born in Burlington on Dec. 2, 1915, the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Merchant) Shanks.

She was a member of St. Mark's parish. Marion is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David Louis Modica and Jeannie of Colchester; four granddaughters, Ellen Pilon and her husband.Thomas, Shari Sheehey and her husband, Joel, Lynn Modica and Justine Modica; five greatgrandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Pilon, Christine and Karen Sheehey and Nicole Mosher. She is also survived by three sisters, Bertha Hammond, Bernice Shanks and Colleen Johnson, all of Burlington; two brothers, Joseph Shanks of Glastonbury, Conn, and John Shanks and his wife, Catherine, of Zephyrhills, a sister-in-law, Janet Shanks of South Burlington and several nieces and nephews. 30, 1906 in East Dorset, the daughter of William J. and Katharine (Rutherford) Stone. She graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1 925 and was awarded a Teacher Certificate from the Castleton Normal School in 1927.
