Mary J. (Davenport) Gauvin of South Bur- lington, died suddenly Thursday evening, Octo- ber 5th at the UVM Medi- cal Center. She was 63. Born in Burlington, VT to the late Harry D. Davenport and Beverly (Muir) she was raised in Vermont and graduated from high school in Con- necticut. Ms. Gauvin retired from the University of Vermont where she had been employed as an ad- ministrative assistant for over 25 years. After her retirement she went on to work with the VNA of Chittenden Grand Isles Counties as a Licensed Nursing Assistant for the past several years where she found her calling. A kind and compassion- ate woman, she truly en- joyed her work in caring for the elderly and those with dementia and sup- ported the Alzheimer’s Association. Ms. Gauvin was a talented artist enjoying photography, painting, and crafts. She liked to travel and had a special fondness for Coastal Maine and had enjoyed retreats at the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center in Biddeford, Maine. Through the years she was a foster mother to multiple chil- dren and taught Reli- gious Education at St. John Vianney Church. Above all her greatest joy and love was her family, especially her sons and being with her grand- daughters. She is survived by her sons, Peter T. Gauvin and his wife Cora of Wilbra- ham, MA and Michael E. Gauvin and his wife, Vik- ki of South Burlington and her grandchildren, Bowen and Nora Gauvin. She is also survived by her many dear friends, extended family, and her half-sister, Becky Fox. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Ser- vices in celebration of Mary’s life at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 12th at Ready Funeral and Cremation Service South Chapel, 261 Shel- burne Road, Burlington. Interment will follow at New Mt. Calvary Cem- etery in Burlington.
